If you work by multiplying a grayscale by a base color, make those grays warm or cool before you multiply them. If you work by dragging the luminosity down on a color picker, shift the hue a little while you're at it.

Also, go back and revisit the painting, looking for opportunities for the color of one object to bounce onto and influence the color of its neighbor. Surely that gold would influence the floor, The drees would bounce a lot of light back into the scene. The red hair would bleed a little red onto the face, no?

I think jfrancis is commenting on what I would call 'monocromatic shading.' I do agree paintings are richer when values are built with differing hues, but I believe the coloring is part of the anime style you use here.
I would suggest something other than black for the BG (the usual 'neutral grey' argument). Beautiful work as usual!
