Description

Sidhe is the name that the fairies receive in the Irish mythology. It is said that they are high beings as a current man, of reserved customs and very powerful. Her Queen, Maeve, is so beautiful that for the mortal ones it can be dangerous to look at her.
Some legends tell that these fairies are descendants from the ancient gods Tuatha of Dannan, and others assure that they are fallen angels, which were not bad enough to be sent to the hell.

This picture is my version of the Queen Maeve, with the forest around her. Photoshop 6.

Beautiful work, indeed. You have a signature style, I think. I wish the rest of her body were visible. As a Celt myself, I adore the title. One of my ancestral surnames was Sidhe.

Maybe its just me - - - the piece has a feel of TitanAE - the movie - a realistic background with an animated subject. Not that its bad or anything - its just a very distinct style, which is kinda neat! The illustration of Queen Maeve herself is very high quality! (thumbup) I think a (+3) is in order!

i really like this one, it's less anime-sih than your other ones. anime is great, but once you've seen one, it becomes very difficult to distinguish other anime artist
from others, but you seem to be assimilating the style into your own. :o)

yo, i really enjoyed seeing your gallery at your website, but DangYo, too many popups, and im on broadband.

Her face is so angelic. I love how this has a bit of anime mixed together.... creating your own lovely style. Beautiful work :)

I think the figure is way too cartoony and doesn't go with the background. The background looks like a bunch of smodging to an already existing photo in photoshop and doesn't look drawn. The wings are extrmely flat and so is her torso. I like the dress.

Thank you very much for your comments ^______^

To Relique: I love the celtic mithology, it's my favourite. So one of your ancestral surnames was Sidhe? really? wow :)

To Jimiyo: Thanks for visiting my site :) . The popups are a great problem...I'm searching hostsites without popups or banners, but it's very difficult.

To Kikon: The background it's imaginary, I don't use any reference and of course it's not a copy of an existing photo. And I can prove it when I want :)

Did you slightly put the background out of focus on purpose? It bugged me at first, but it also keeps the focus more on the character.

Careful with the custom brush though, it almost brings a grid into the cloud of leaves.

Ah, the Tuatha De Danann. Good grief though, that couldn't possible Queen Maeve of Connacht! The woman was a warlord! :)

I think you've done a nice job with the hair and dress. I disagree with the rest of the image though, the background is blurry in a uniform manner, whereas it should be crisp in the front and blur gradually. I won't say anything about the cartoonish face, because it is clearly your style. The wings, however, could be more delicate, less flat, and certainly not so opaque. They look like plastic strap-on wings as they stand. Try fading them slightly using a soft brush in a mask; that should do the trick.

So, again a nice job from you Chris!I must say that there are 2 different techniques
between the forest and the figure and that is confusing me a little i would prefer to follow your style (this is the figure style) to make the forest.Nice Chris!!

Hmmm....The way the tree blends with the leaves looks a bit...unrealistic. And I realize that the wings have been mentioned, and I must say that they do look like she strapped them on her back with duct tape. Not to say that they aren't beautiful, but they just don't blend with the rest of the image. But the body and the dress are beautiful!

I like it. I teach the Tuatha de Danann Faery path, so this is a nice rendition of perhaps the gentry, who knows? Besides, there was more than one Queen Mabh of Ireland...yes the one of Connacht was fierce and fought as such in An Tain bo Cuailgne and as the adversary of dear Cuchulainn. Then there was the Queen Mebh Lethderg, who wed nine kings to give them their territorial kingships in Ireland. Then there is the Goddess Maeve who was the Goddess of Intoxication and reigned mostly over Connacht and Leinster. And, less we forget the grandest Faerie Queen of them all, as written of in works as The Faerie Queen and Tam Lin...Queen Maeve of course. Again, she is lovely.

Eriu.
